My Grinding Stand

To grind a mirror you need a grinding stand, so I looked around for possible alternatives - barrels seemed to be in short supply (unless I crept into a parking lot in the dead of night and absconded with one) so I decided to get an aluminum washbasin and use a 2x4 pier I'd build previously for my DS114 as the stand. I couldn't find a washbasin, so a small galvanized garbage can was used instead!

A couple of bags of concrete were poured into the can to provide a rock solid foundation. The plywood circle at the top is sold at Home Depot for about $3.49. Lately I've reactivated my ATM hobby and found that since 2002 when the can was created some gaps were formed between the concrete and pier but another bag of sand / topping mix cement solved that problem!
